REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD)
definition
"Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder", commonly known as "dreaming sleepwalking", is a sleep disorder, abnormal sleep/narcolepsy that occurs during the rapid eye movement sleep period. "Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder" is regarded as an important preclinical symptom of Parkinson's disease.
Because the patient's muscle tension does not disappear during the REM sleep stage (dream stage), the patient's body can make involuntary activities and talk in his sleep according to the dream, and perform violent behaviors consistent with the dream, such as punching, kicking, shouting, and hitting people. etc., and may harm yourself and those sleeping with you.
symptom
- Make actions and words that are consistent with dreams, often with violent tendencies.
- During sleep: kicking, punching, stepping or jumping off the bed, related to the content of the dream (often accompanied by dreams of being chased or with violent content).
- While sleeping: talking loudly, laughing, yelling, etc.
- Clear memory of dream content
Approach
Self-protection measures and home safety: add soft cushions to the bed, set up bedside guardrails, and remove dangerous items from the room.
Drug treatment: When you find similar symptoms, seek professional medical advice as soon as possible. Appropriate use of drugs can relieve the condition, and combined with exercise can delay the onset of the disease for more than ten years.
